Can Do Canines works with individuals who are deaf, hard-of-hearing or physically disabled, pairing them with dogs specially trained to alert them to important sounds or assist them in the activities of daily living. In general, these animals are referred to as assistance dogs.

Some dogs are donated to us when they are still young puppies. Others come to us as adult animals. Many of the dogs we select for service are adopted from local animal shelters.
We currently train five types of assistance dogs: Hearing Assist Dogs, Mobility Assist Dogs, Diabetes Assist Dogs,Seizure Assist Dogs, and Autism Assist Dogs, each of which serves clients in different ways. Special Skills Dogs are those that combine skills from two or more of these categories. The specific skills and tasks of each dog vary according to the needs of the clients we serve.
