Featured News and Events Other Volunteer Opportunities

Besides puppy raising and foster care, we have many other regular volunteer needs:

Annual Candy Sale

This fundraiser kicks-off every year in September at the Heel and Wheel event and runs until the end of December. We sell thousands of bars of The World's Finest Chocolate at $1 per bar, netting $.50 per bar. We need people to:

  • Recruit potential candy sellers to take candy on a consignment basis
  • Deliver candy to other volunteers willing to sell them for us
  • Sell candy

Women Volunteering

Fundraising Events

  • Help organize and plan an event, like the  annual Heel & Wheel walk
  • Serve on the Development Committee
Locate sponsors; sell tickets; help out on the day of an event
  • Locate donors
  • Interpret in American Sign Language at events

Client Assistance

Sometimes clients and their Hearing Assist Dogs in training need help practicing the dog’s response to certain sounds. You might visit a client’s home to ring the door bell, knock on the door or pretend to be an intruder so the individual can train with their dog. We are always in need of interpreters for this job, since some clients rely on sign language to communicate. No dog training experience is necessary.

Still More Volunteer Needs

– General office work (You’ll need to commit to a regular schedule)
– Help with bulk mailings
– Help with office cleaning (weekly or monthly)
– General facility maintenance and/or repair

    2-6 weeks)

puppy until it is about 18 months old)
– Staffing informational booths (usually at dog shows or pet fairs)
– Sewing capes for our assistance dogs

(we supply the material and pattern)
– Soldering sound equipment for specialized dog training
